Texas men's basketball coach Chris Beard has been arrested by Austin police.

Austin police arrested him on charges of family violence.

One woman accused him of trying to strangle her to death.

"He strangled me, bit me, injury marks all over my leg, threw me around and went mad," the woman told the police, according to the affidavit.

When questioned by police, Beard said he had an audio recording of the incident that would show he was not the primary attacker.

But he refused to share them with the authorities, police said.

The school suspended Beard without payment "until further notice."

Associate head coach Rodney Terry coached number seven Longhorn against Rice on Monday night.

According to reports, the charge is related to third-degree felony in Texas, in which Beard could also face a possible jail term of two to 10 years.
